When I press "Get Msgs" icon or select that option from menu, lot of times there
is no response. I need try to press it multiple times, it doesn't work. I close
and restart the "Mail and Newsgroup" window and again retry, sometimes it never
works.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Keep Mail and Newsgroup window running for about a day. (In my case, I hardly
reboot my machine and problem surfaces occasionally.
2. Try to get new messages after gap of 8-10 hrs.
3. You may not get window responding and searching for new messages at times.

Actual Results:
Since window doesn't respond, I can't get my mails.

Expected Results:
It should respond to get messages action everytime.

I login to my office account through Mozilla to check mails from home. I never
see any problem in link to our office.
I see the same effect on Linux and Solaris versions of Mozilla, currently with
SuSE Linux 8.2/ Mozilla 1.7b (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7b)
Gecko/20040421), but also on (any?) older version.

It is interesting to note the following:
I have the option "check for new mails every 2min." on, but I don't
automatically download the mails. After some time of normal operation (several
hours usually, sometimes several days), Mozilla will *detect that new mail is
there* (green arrow), but when pressing the "get msgs" button the arrow
immediately disappears but no attempt to download the mails is done. There is
not even a "contacting server..." message in the status line - just nothing. At
this point I have to terminate Mozilla entirely (not just the mail window).

It happens with a pop3 account, if that is of interest.

In very rare cases it recovers when pressing "get msgs" multiple times within
short time, but chances are less than 10%.

It may also be of interest that sometimes, when I get large mails or the
internet is slow, I sometimes see "transient" effects like these:
- green arrow indicates new mail
- "get msgs" reports "no new messages"
- pressing it again a minute later downloads the mail
It appears to be a problem that a mail is detected when it is not yet entirely
available on the pop3-server? Maybe this kind of problem is a cause for the
other problem?
