Steps to reproduce:
I right clicked on the available area where the columns are in the list of messages pane. No columns were listed. INBOX was the folder in use. This used to work in previous versions. Also you change the look and feel on Thunderbird and do not allow me to go back in versions to get the old look and feel.
Actual results:
no selection of columns
Expected results:
Have a check list shown what is enabled for that frame/window and what more you can add.

Image looks like you are using 'Card View' which does not use columns.
This is by design and so is not a bug.
If you want to see column headers then you need to use 'Table View'.
To the right of the 'Quick Filter' button is an icon - click on it and select 'Table View'
