User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030109 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030109 On the above web-site, from which one can download HandStoryBasic, if one clicks on the Mac OS 9/Palm Desktop 4 button, the computer crashes. Curiously, each time the machine is restarted, the mouse-tracking speed in Control Panels--Mouse has been reset to a slow speed! It appears that HandStoryBasic is designed to work with MS IE, but there is no warning that one needs IE to download the software. TalkBack reports TB16352092X and TB16352271X refer. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open http://www.handstory.com/product/hs_mac.html. 2. Click on the download button for HandStoryBasic/Mac OS 9/Palm Desktop 4. Actual Results: The computer crashed. When restarted, the mouse-tracking speed had been reset to a slow value. Expected Results: The software should have been downloaded. Mac G3 (old beige tower), OS 9.2.2. Modern theme.
WFM, build 2003011703 mac OS 9.1. Did you ask for the download to be saved to disk or to be opened with an application?

Torben Luders, you will see from my original report that the computer crashed as soon as I clicked on the download butto - before the dialog about opening or saving could appear.

Michael, can you still reproduce the crash with latest nightly build ?

I am really sorry, but I downloaded the 20030121 build last night, tried it (in general, I mean, not in connection with this bug), found it had a new and very irritating bug, reported the latter, but then trashed the new build and went back to 20030109. If I have time in the next day or two I shall download another nightly build and try again.
Wolruf, Further to my last comment, I have just re-installed 20030121 - and the crash does NOT happen.
Thanks for the feedback, please reopen if it happens again.
