Bug 1424871 and 1588360 look related, if not the same.

Bug 1588360 (it seems Bugzilla didn't link it automatically)

Indeed, this seems likely to be a version of bug 1424871. Tentatively marking that as a dependency.

This seems diagnosed enough to drop needs-diagnosis.

I don't know what is the process to verify that webcompat issues are fixed, but I don't seem to hear the audio with the latest Nightly, which has bug 1424871 fixed. (Yesterday I had trouble to reproduce this even with a build without bug 1424871 fixed. I did reproduce today using that same old build though)
Ksenia, perhaps you could check that this is fixed, and if so, mark as such.

Hi Dennis, with Ksenia on leave, what's the best way for us to verify that this site bug is fixed? Thanks!

I tested this a couple of times, and I could get this to reproduce in an older bug, but not in today's build - so that matches smaug's observation in comment 6. I consider this enough verification that this is fixed. Closing as such :)
