All which I have to do is keep FIrefire open and it will keep taking RAM.

Can someone fix this?

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Performance' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Performance
Product: Firefox → Core

This bug was moved into the Performance component.

:Zalathan, could you make sure the following information is on this bug?

  • For slowness or high CPU usage, capture a profile with http://profiler.firefox.com/, upload it and share the link here.
  • ✅ For memory usage issues, capture a memory dump from about:memory and attach it to this bug.
  • Troubleshooting information: Go to about:support, click "Copy raw data to clipboard", paste it into a file, save it, and attach the file here.

If the requested information is already in the bug, please confirm it is recent.

Thank you.

Hi Andrew! Can you check out the attached memory report? Is it sufficient to confirm the report or do we need extra information to address it?

Flags: needinfo?(continuation)

Nothing in the report is extremely high, so I'm not sure what might be rising over time. The extension process is using 650MB of RAM, which is the most of any process, but it doesn't look like any individual thing is taking too much memory, so it is hard to say. It looks like you have 3 different ad blockers installed. Maybe you could keep, say, uBlock Origin and disable the others and see if that helps? Or any other addons you might have that you aren't using. The two YouTube tabs are using about 700MB total, so maybe that's an issue. I'm not sure if that's super high for YouTube.

The GPU process looks reasonable.

You may get infuriated at my question, but all which I did was follow bug-reporting instructions which I found online; I don't know how to check the bug report itself, and it seems like it needs a special program to do so. Unless you could instruct me.

When I leave for about 30 minutes to an hour, to skyrockets to like 2 gigs.

Hi Luis. In comment 4, I was asking Andrew McCreight for an opinion on the memory report that you recorded for us.
His opinion in comment 5 is that the memory report does not show any obvious causes why your memory would increase while doing nothing, however, he came up with some troubleshooting options:

  1. "Maybe you could keep, say, uBlock Origin and disable the other ad blockers and see if that helps?"
  2. "Or (disable) any other addons you might have that you aren't using?"
  3. YouTube video tabs could be the cause; Close them and check for memory issues.

We think it would be best if you try them one by one and see if the memory keeps increasing and let us know of the results.

Furthermore, the previous information request that was meant for you (in comment 3) was from the "BugBot", an automated process that helps triage performance issues and ask for more information to ensure engineers can address them. The bugbot has mentioned recording a performance profile, which might not be important in this case; it also asked about the information displayed in about:support page. It could be of great help if you copied that information and pasted it here for us to investigate. (Go to about:support, click "Copy raw data to clipboard", paste it into a file, save it, and attach the file here.)

Thank you for your report!

Is the about:memory report you attached from when it was in this high memory state? Thanks.
