Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:126.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/126.0

Steps to reproduce:

I have multiple accounts that send via one SMTP server, but with different usernames.
Send a mail from all of those accounts.

Since version 115 only the account that is set as default in the SMTP settings can successfully send mails.

Actual results:

Mail server rejects the sent mail with "message content rejected" for all accounts but one. It works only with the account that matches the credentials set for the default SMTP server.

Our hypothesis is that Thunderbird always uses the default SMTP configuration as long as the server name matches - and not the specific server configuration that matches the actual user name/ mail account. The server then rejects the mail for being send using a wrong user (mismatching username and sender address).

This worked fine until yesterday but in Thunderbird version 115 account specific SMTP settings where removed and replaced with disfunctional global SMTP settings.

Accounts that email adresse's server name only matches one configured SMTP server work fine. Even if not set to be the default server.

Expected results:

It should be possible to send mails from more that one account per server, using the right credentials, so the server doesn't reject the mail for being suspicious (rightfully).

Nothing changed with this in version 115. You can still chose either default smtp or one specific for the identity. Check all identities and make sure they use settings that are correct for them.
