May be it's related to the gcc problem that's responsible for the malfunctioning
Java-Plugin in mozilla 1.2.1.
WFM Mozilla 1.3 alpha build 2003012008, Windows 98. Reporter, does it crash with
a recent nightly build?
Keywords: crash
WFM 2002121217 [yes, it's old], Linux.

Reporter: Try a clean profile by starting mozilla with mozilla -ProfileManager,
create a profile, and start using that.
wfm 20021130, winXP
WFM, current trunk CVS, Linux
Maybe it's a Multizilla issue. Reporter, if you remove Multizilla, does it still
crash?

Changing summary to something more specific.
Summary: Mozilla crashes → Mozilla crashes at news.zdnet.de
Same problem using a new user. Same problem with latest MultiZilla. How can I
remove it for a test? Same problem with http://www.spreadshirt.de
Just uninstall the whole thing.

Please download and install the latest nightly build of Mozilla. Alternatively,
wait for Mozilla 1.3 beta, which is due out soon.
Just downloaded mozilla-1.3b for linux, specifically, I am using the
mozilla-1.3b-0_xft.i386.rpm on RedHat 8.0. Still crashes at given URL every
time, also crashes at www.zdnet.com.
Xft is Blizzard. Reassign.

Worksforme. Maybe you have a .fon file in your font path? What happens if you
remove the flash plugin?
I get the same crash (zdnet/news.com/etc.). What should I do to debug this? Using: Mozilla 1.3b Build ID 2003021123 Crashes on both the gtk2 and xft builds No flash plugin Fonts in ~/.fonts: [matthew@localhost .fonts]$ ls app850.fon coure.fon impact.ttf smalle.fon trebuc.ttf arialbd.ttf courf.fon l_10646.ttf sserife.fon verdanab.ttf arialbi.ttf couri.ttf lucon.ttf sseriff.fon verdanai.ttf ariali.ttf cour.ttf marlett.ttf symbole.fon verdana.ttf arial.ttf desktop.ini micross.ttf symbol.ttf verdanaz.ttf ariblk.ttf dosapp.fon modern.fon tahomabd.ttf vga850.fon cga40850.fon ega40850.fon palabi.ttf tahoma.ttf vgafix.fon cga40woa.fon ega40woa.fon palab.ttf timesbd.ttf vgaoem.fon cga80850.fon ega80850.fon palai.ttf timesbi.ttf vgasys.fon cga80woa.fon ega80woa.fon pala.ttf timesi.ttf webdings.ttf comicbd.ttf georgiab.ttf roman.fon times.ttf wingding.ttf comic.ttf georgiai.ttf script.fon trebucbd.ttf courbd.ttf georgia.ttf serife.fon trebucbi.ttf courbi.ttf georgiaz.ttf seriff.fon trebucit.ttf Fonts in
And if you remove the .fon files?
I don't have a ~/.fonts directory, but mozilla crashes.
/etc/fonts/fonts.conf of fontconfig-2.0-3 is unchanged (Red Hat 8.0)
Blocks: xft_tracking
Andrew, I tried it with the current version from CVS and it still exits without
any error message. I don't get any core file, too. How can I get some
information about the problem's origin? Any special build options?
well another xft crash at a zdnet site was bug 199027 ,resolved as dup of bug 180309

Boris Folgmann:
Do you have Microsoft .fon fonts anywhere in your font directories? (It may not
be in in your homedir aka ~fonts) If you find any: does moving them out of the
way prevent the crash ?

try this to search for them:

locate .fon |grep fon$
Only moving the .fon files was not enough. I also had to delete the file
.fonts.cache-1 in my home directory, may be because of dangling references to
the microsoft fonts I removed. It seems that this file is regenerated when I
start a gtk2 application, including mozilla. Now it works! I suppose that the
fontconfig patch mentioned in bug 180309 is the only possibility to get the ms
fonts back?
Yeah, unfortunately.
