alecf: do you have any ideas?  I assume that you are the creator of fast-update.pl
by looking at the logs.

Here is a copy of fast-update.pl that I have modified.

It is not quite working yet.

It never detects that there have been any updates.

Moving this to server-ops projects, as this is not a content issue, but part of the backend for the site.

These tools are stored in the website CVS tree, and the website-drivers have the ability to edit them as they see fit.  This doesn't require any sysadmin involvement unless you want this script used for production updates of the site (which I don't think this script is appropriate for by the look of it, this is more of a content developer tool).
