Image resizing should have a minimum percentage or size. Otherwise, you will get a little spec of an image if you make the window too small and won't be able to see it.

Right now, according to several specific Netscape documentation and references (even MSDN), the minimal innerWidth and innerHeight values for a popup should be 100px. Substract to this the default browser 8px margins surrounding an image (or applied to the body element) in a popup and you should have 84px for both dimensions of a resized image. Empirical testings demonstrate that these minimal values are not respected. Right now (build 2003012804 under XP Pro SP1), an image can be resized to an height of 68px. I think this bug depends on bug 176320.

What about white space? The image can be made a lot smaller than the window with whitespace filling in the void. Therefore, I don't necessarily agree.

This particularly affects images which have an extreme aspect ratio. See for example http://www.wikipedia.org/upload/9/95/London_Eye_panorama.jpg (Warning: large image).

I was about to file a new bug, but may be will stick with this. It is about this "8px margins" from comment #1 ... Why are they and can they be removed for showing single images? The London pic from comment #3 is stunning!

The requested behavior doesn't make sense to me - if for some reason I have a postage-stamp-sized browser window, I'd still want the image to be squished down into it. I can't imagine anyone would actually use a window that small anyway. WONTFIX?

Duping to the bug where I set a minimum of 1px size in either dimension. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 351969 ***
