[snap] Importing mbox file appears to do nothing

For a non-snap installation of Thunderbird, to import an .mbox file you just move it to ~/.thunderbird/Mail/Local\ Folders/ and start Thunderbird and see the the message list under the Local Folders.
However for a snap installation of Thunderbird, if you move the .mbox file to ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird/Mail/Local\ Folders/ and start Thunderbird, the message list is not there and nothing appears to have happened.
