Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0

Steps to reproduce:

I noticed on 2.53.18.2 that downloads fail silently as memory approaches 100% use. 2.53.19b1 has a similar problem. With 30-50 windows, downloading from each, memory use steadily increases. With 2.53.19b1, memory use stops at 80% so the same effect happens a little quicker. One may restart Seamonkey to restart downloading. The problem occurs with images and pdf files, and I imagine other files as well.

Actual results:

Download Manager reports download complete, blank for the amount downloaded, and the file is corrupted. Right-click to the link, shift to Firefox, the file is downloaded successfully, showing it is a Seamonkey problem.

Expected results:

Perhaps browsing activity is saved in memory and that could be conserved. The exception could be handled more gracefully, either notifying the user of the failure or saving the data nevertheless, which Firefox is managing to do in the same low memory situation.

Version: SeaMonkey 2.53 Branch → SeaMonkey 2.53
