User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0
Steps to reproduce:
I created a policy to turn AutoAppUpdate off.
I placed the policy into /etc/firefox/policies.json and for good measure into
/etc/firefox
under snap, I do not know where to put the local file (firefox/distribution)
Actual results:
firefox still auto-updates
Expected results:
it should n0ot update

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Enterprise Policies' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I've reproduced this issue using Firefox 128.0 on Windows10 x64 following the STR provided in Comment 0.
Setting to NEW and awaiting the developer's input on this.

We don't control whether or not the Snap updates via Firefox. You would have to turn that off in snap

Yeah, unfortunately we can't control that from inside Firefox. You would have to turn it off inside Ubuntu:
