Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the latest Nightly 130.0a1.
  2. Visit a website, then tap a link inside the website.
  3. Tap the back arrow button, then tap the forward arrow button on the navigation toolbar, within 5 seconds.
  4. Observe the "Long press on navigation bar" CFR.

Expected behavior

The "Long press on navigation bar" CFR points in between the back/forward navigation buttons, as shown in Figma

Actual behavior

The "Long press on navigation bar" CFR points more towards the forward navigation button.

Device information

  • Firefox version: Nightly 130.0a1 from 07/30
  • Android device model: Google Pixel 8 Pro, Xiaomi 12 Pro, LG G7 fit
  • Android OS version: Android 14, Android 13, Android 9

Aarjav says this bug is not a release blocker for the navbar.

Roger says pointing to just one of the buttons would be more precise than pointing between two buttons. But Aarjav says the CFR is advertising a long press action that is applicable to both the back and forward buttons.

Assigning this bug to Aarjav while he investigates UX options.

This CFR should point to the back button. I have updated the designs here - https://www.figma.com/design/8fsCvtnweBkWGZ9NfL907l/Toolbar-Redesign?node-id=10276-147768&t=7gTS1ZujKhjF8soX-4

Refinement notes:

  • CFR already exists; but the triangle arrow needs to point to back button
  • Is it anchored properly currently? --> Tim believes it is anchored at the back button but with an offset (so we just need to remove the offset)
  • Any concerns about different screen sizes & config changes / rotations? --> if there is an issue with rotation, that should just be a separate bug
