User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0

Steps to reproduce:

Just starting Fedora 40, Wayland KDE 6.1 session with Nvidia drivers 555 or 560, with any egl-wayland version higher than 1.1.13 (any version with explicit sync support) is installed or, in the case of 560 driver, the bundled egl-wayland packaged with it.

The attached log is from Martin Stránský's extra logging build from https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1908825
Run with WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 MOZ_LOG="Widget:5 WidgetWayland:5"

Actual results:

Crashing with:
[Parent 334218, Compositor] WARNING: Call to mmap failed: Bad file descriptor: file /builds/worker/checkouts/gecko/ipc/chromium/src/base/shared_memory_posix.cc:515

Immediately after start or up to maximum of 5 minutes (as seen so far). The average crash time is 1-2 minutes.

Expected results:

Firefox should not crash.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Please try to get strace log with firefox logging:

WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 MOZ_LOG="Widget:5 WidgetWayland:5" strace -f ./firefox > run.txt 2>&1

Thanks.

Here's the strace output https://nxc.abnormalfreq.com/s/rxnYgXGiw4MXk9P
This is with 1.1.14 egl-wayland, 555 driver and your extra debug log build.

Thanks. The 'Call to mmap' error message doesn't look related - not sure what causes the crash.

It looks like the issue may be related to https://github.com/NVIDIA/egl-wayland/pull/124

I will test as soon as I can and get back to you.

So far there have been no crashes with git egl-wayland and both PR123 and PR124 merged. Firefox running stable for 24 hours with 555 driver.
Waiting for 560.31.02 release on rpmfusion so I can test that one too.

Bad fd crashes not reproducible anymore with 560 branch either. This can be closed.
