Can you screen shot that message?

Hi Wayne,

No, I can't screenshot the "Mozilla Thunderbird ne répond pas" message since when it is displayed it is because the system is stuck in a loop and screen capture cannot work during this interval.

However, I have taken a picture of the screen (In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #1)

A similar issue started happening just after adding an email account (strangely), except that my Thunderbird Beta 130.0b3 (64-bit) client crashes completely as soon as I click on "Unified inbox" (there is the "Not Responding" Windows alert but at this point it's unrecoverable). I doubt the new email account is the cause as I tried to remove it but the issue persists.

Repro steps (note: addons were disabled and toolbars and controls were reset):

  • Click on "Folder pane options"
  • Folder Modes → Unified Folders
  • Click on "Inbox"
  • App crashes

Does it happen with 128.2.0? Today only available as a candidate but in a day or two should be available by update and on the website.

Yes it still does after updating to version 128.2.0esr (64 bits) French.

More precisely, it seems to be dependant on the number of folders listed under eatch unified folder and on the total number of messages in these folders.
For exemple :

  • If there is only one "trash" folder listed under the unified "trash", display of context menu is almost immedate.
  • Same with "Model" folder
  • When there are 9 account inbox folders (8 + Local folders) containing 37 messages total, the error message is displayed after 4 seconds for a duration of 8 to 10 seconds before context menu is displayed.
  • When there are 7 folders under the unified Draft folder and no draft message at all, the error message is displayed after 4 seconds for a duration of 2 to 3 seconds before context menu is displayed.

Please try 128.4.3 (or newer beta) which has fixes and post your results. Thanks.

And if it is not fixed, then this is a possible duplicate of bug 1917490.

I tried on 133.0b4 and got the same results. I think the behavior I described is indeed closer to what's explained in bug 1917490

Unfortunately bug 1917490 has gone nowhere.
Doe this still reproduce with 128.6.0 or newer?
If it does, please do https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiling-thunderbird-performance
