User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:129.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/129.0
Steps to reproduce:
Typing something in the search with Google or enter address bar i.e youtube, weather, any query. Press enter on keyboard (both main and numpad enter)
Actual results:
The box fills with https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=what (replace what with whatever i tried to search) and wouldn't move beyond the Firefox Home screen and the text in search bar is highlighted
Expected results:
It should direct to google with the results

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

We're supposing you are using Avast security software, we are aware of a problem in their latest version causing this kind of problems, please check Bug 1913226.
If it's not the case, please let us know.

Could you please temporarily disable the antivirus web shield feature and check if the issue goes away?
Also please ensure you are on the latest version of AVG.

Also please ensure you are on the latest version of AVG.
It's the most recent version and still occurs when AVG is off.
Additional comment, when it happens, it takes 2-5 enter presses to actually search the typed word and then any subsequent searches or url queries work first time like normal

I was pointed out that AVG is owned by Avast, so it must be a very similar issue as I imagine code will be shared. Maybe AVG engine didn't pick-up the avast hotfix yet.
When you disabled AVG, did you specifically disable the Web Shield, or just the runtime protection? I think it's the Web Shield that intercepts all Web traffic. Though there may also be an option to disable "HTTPS scanning", I don't have the product so it's hard for me to pinpoint exact settings.
I'd suggest to report the problem to https://support.avg.com/ as we can't do much on our side.

You can probably close this now, it seems to have stopped/resolved itself, no changes made on my end that could explain it going away
