Details

(Whiteboard: [webcompat-source:web-bugs])

Environment:
Operating system: Windows 10
Firefox version: Firefox 129.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to: https://www.bilibili.com/
  2. Play a video till the end and observe

Other details:

  • This issue appeared only after when Firefox updated to 129.0 and bilibili.com had some unknown updates and AMD Software Adrenalin Edition updated to 24.7.1 (which updated the driver to 32.0.11029.1008). Not sure who is the culprit.
  • Might be AMD-specific. I'm running Firefox 129.0 x64 on Win10 22H2 on AMD R7-7840HS with Radeon 780M (2560 x 1600 120Hz variable (AMD FreeSync Premium))
  • I've seen other people saying that older version of AMD GPU driver (still AMD) could also reproduce it.
  • about:support shows many lines of WebRender Compositing failure logs: CP+[GFX1-]: CompositorBridgeChild receives IPC close with reason=AbnormalShutdown
  • about:support shows: HW_DECODED_VIDEO_ZERO_COPY default blocked Blocklisted by gfxInfo
ACCELERATED_CANVAS2D default disabled Disabled by default 已列入黑名单;故障代码 FEATURE_FAILURE_DISABLED
ACCELERATED_CANVAS2D runtime failed Disabled with non-zero canvas worker threads 已列入黑名单;故障代码 FEATURE_FAILURE_DISABLE_BY_CANVAS_WORKER_THREADS

Also tested with a freshnew profile in Edge, but weren't able to reproduce. Seems to be Firefox-specific.

Expected Behavior:
Video shows no issue

Actual Behavior:
WebRender crashes when video finished playing on bilibili

Notes:

  • Reproduces regardless of the status of ETP
  • Reproduces in Firefox Nightly, and Firefox Release
  • Does not reproduce in Chrome
