User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0

Steps to reproduce:

Visited fidelity.com, logged onto my account, selected transfer funds. On the form that appeared there is a drop-down menu with text similar to "select From account". I clicked on it and a list of accounts I have registered is displayed. I clicked on the bank account I wanted to use, then clicked the Continue button.

Actual results:

The drop-down item changed from the account name to the "select from account" text that was initially displayed, the control outline changed to red, and a message in red appeared below it saying "select an account to transfer from" or similar language. It's as though the account selected in the previous step had not been done.

Expected results:

The web site should have advanced to the next page, confirmed the From account selection, then prompted me to a To account and an amount. This used to work, I had done the exact same sequence in May. When I repeated this sequence in Microsoft Edge, it worked as expected. So the problem is with Firefox.

I forgot to mention that I observed this behavior (drop-down control seemingly ignored) in other websites, but not all.

Have you tried contacting fidelity's support to check if it's a known problem?

Unfortunately, testing is a problem since it requires an account, and this is likely an issue in the way the website is implemented.

As a start, please try verifying if this problem persists on a new profile, or following troubleshooting steps

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Layout: Form Controls' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Layout: Form Controls
Product: Firefox → Core

Unclear/ unlikely to be layout-related. Would be good to know if it repros on a clean profile

Component: Layout: Form Controls → Site Reports
Product: Core → Web Compatibility
Summary: Web site drop down menu fails to select → fidelity.com drop down menu fails to select
Severity: -- → S2
User Story: (updated)
Priority: -- → P1

I've tried to follow the steps here, but I don't see any problems, and I don't see pages that seem to exactly match the description. When I click "Transfer", I get a popup that asks what type of transfer (EFT to a bank, transfer between accounts, etc). No matter the options I select, when it asks which account in drop-downs, selecting and changing them works.

Perhaps the site changed and fixed your problem. It might also be due to some misbehaving extension - you could restart in Troubleshoot mode and check that.

If you can still reproduce this, please update the steps to reproduce and open a new bug referencing this one. Thanks!
