Reporter, I took the .zip file that you have attached, downloaded it to my winxp desktop and saved out the .eml to my desktop. That .eml, when I double-click it while on my desktop, opens Outlook Express and displays a blank message. Note, the .eml properties shows the type is Outlook Express Mail Message. I then opened the latest trunk build 1-31-2003 and did File|Open pointing to that .eml on the desktop and it opened in our browser window displaying all the forwarded headers but missing the images. I then sent myself a message using trunk build 1-31-2003 attaching that .eml. I received the message and the .eml displayed in the attachment window and in the message with images. I don't see the problem you describe, but the error looks like an Outlook Express error when trying to switch identities within the app. Can you try this again with a more current build.
I have installed Bld 2003013108, but this has not corrected the problem. I have attached another .zip file e-mail attachment that I received a few days earlier from another sender. It might also show the type Outlook Express but so what? I don't have Outlook Express running -- I'm trying to depend on Mozilla. Also, since the programmers that create error messages elect not to identify the programs issuing the messages, I don't know for sure that the error message is published by Mozilla. Do you now if it was?
Today I leaned that I can forward all of these messages THAT I CAN'T OPEN to: (1) my wife's address and she has no problem opening them with I.E., and (2) a web mail system that I use that doesn't use Mozilla. In both these cases the attachments showed up as either HTMLs, .JPGs or ZIPs. Why can't Mozilla open these files???? (I am now using Bld: 2003041604)
S Green, is this bug still an issue for you? Have you upgraded to a more current version of Mozilla? I downloaded your second attachment, integrated it into my Mozilla mail, and was able to read it without getting any error message. If you are still getting this error, I have to wonder if you have other things going on in the mail chain -- a proxy of some sort, or an add-on to Mozilla that might be interfering. (There are some minor glitches regarding attached emails which have attachments themselves, which manifest themselves with that email attachment; see bug 206278, bug 204350, bug 203570.)
re: Comment #7 I returned to the same emails that caused problems before (of which I sent attachments). Now I can open them okay -- no problems. I am now using Bld ID: 2003062504. Thanks
=>WFM, per reporter's comment 8.
