User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:129.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/129.0

Steps to reproduce:

  • account settings
  • manage identities
  • edit
  • composition & addressing (tab)
  • when quoting start a reply above the message and place my signature below my reply (above the quote)

result: on message forward the signature is added but miss the separator -- that is added on a new email.

Actual results:

I set the signature on message forward to be showed under the reply and not at the end of the email. The signature is correctly showed but miss the separator -- that is placed in a new email.

Expected results:

Signature should be added under a separator -- as new mail composing do.

According to the Usenet Signature Convention (https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3676.txt, 4.3), anything after the signature separator "-- " is considered part of the signature. That's why TB doesn't place the separator if the signature goes before other relevant parts.

Yes this is working as intended, per comment 1.

Ok also if I don't like it's ok.
Fortunately with advanced settings is possibile to disable the signature separator and I can configure then signature in different way maybe using three full stop as separator instead of the two line --. Anyway in other email client I don't see this behaviour.

Thank you for your provided reply.
:-) have a nice day and week!

With love.

If you insist on getting the signature separator, there is a workaround. Place the signature separator into the signature. It will then be preserved even when forwarding.
