Steps to reproduce:
Start thunderbird and choose classic mail list view.
Actual results:
In classic message list view every message is exactly one line in height. This is very unpractical, especially in the three-columns-layout view, because then the subject column gets too narrow and the vertical space is not used to its best potential.
Expected results:
I propose a concept for a multi line message list (see attached mockup image) where messages with longer subject can have the heigt of multiple lines, at the same time messages with short subjects stay one line in height. For the maximum height of lines a message can have there should be an option in Thunderbird's settings where the users can set a value ranging from 1-5 (1= everything stays the same it is right now; 5= a message can be 5 lines of height max.).
What I am explicitly NOT having in mind is a "bad" implementation of multiline view like the TB clone "Betterbird" does it (see screenshot). My concept is different from this, so please be highly aware of the differences.

In addition: In multiline mode not only the subject should habe multiple lines, but the other columns too. Especially the column containing the names of the sender/participants of the messages/conversations. This way even longer names or multiple participants can still be seen/read.
