User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 14; Mobile; rv:132.0) Gecko/132.0 Firefox/132.0

Steps to reproduce:

Possible initial scenarios:

  1. private tabs crash without warning (bug 1837010).
  2. the browser stops responding and offers to wait or close the app.
  3. the entire browser crashes.
  4. the entire device (OS) crashes.
  5. the device is shut down or restarted unintentionally or intentionally.

Actual results:

The content of the private tabs is lost.

  • If the content is generated dynamically, manual recovery can be problematic.
  • If the user has many private tabs open at the same time, the user may not be able to remember all of them in detail, which also makes recovery more difficult.

Expected results:

In my opinion, the user should always actively decide when private tabs are closed. External influences as described in the initial scenarios should not play a role here.
Firefox 129 for iOS introduces an option that allows you to keep private tabs, as is common in Apple's Safari for iOS. Compare https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ios/129.0/releasenotes/. Such an option could also prevent data loss under Firefox for Android.
