Steps to reproduce:
This is a design error that is destructive of the user's configuration. I consider it a bug; reasonable minds might differ and consider it an enhancement.
Thunderbird displayed an error message that one of my mailboxes did not exist on its server, so Thunderbird would edit the filters containing that mailbox.
Actual results:
The first time this happened to me, Thunderbird removed all the mailboxes in the account from all filters. The problem was a transient glitch and did not recur. I had to go back and fix all the filters.
Expected results:
Thunderbird should have asked the user whether to trash the filters, or to take the account offline until the issue was resolved.
Fortunately I knew what was going to happen, so was able to kill Thunderbird before it could edit the filters. On restarting it, the mailbox was there and normal operation resumed.
