Steps to reproduce:
- long press either on the + sign in Firefox or on the Firefox icon on the phone
- a private session session opens
- enter a URL and go!
Actual results:
The url opens in a non-private session
Expected results:
The url should open in a private session
It's getting even worse. Every attempt to open a private session ends up as non private.

The severity field is not set for this bug.
:Gela, could you have a look please?
For more information, please visit BugBot documentation.
Sorry did I miss to set a priority when creating the bug? In my own experience, this makes the private session feature totally useless. I can't open a private session anymore. I have add-ons activated, though.
I will test by deactivating all of them, if this is not confirmed on your end, ok?

Thank you for the report!
I was not able to reproduce this issue on the Fenix Nightly 132.0a1 from 9/24 with the following devices:
- Samsung Galaxy S24 (Android 14),
- Google Pixel 6 (Android 15),
- Samusng Galaxy A14 (Android 13).
Could you provide us the following:
- the device you have encountered this issue on?
- what extensions did you had enabled?
- a short video with the issue (< 10MB).
I'm also not able to reproduce this on Google Pixel 8 with Android 14 using Firefox 130 and Nightly 132.202... When I long press a link in private browsing, a menu pops up with "open link in private tab" which opens it in private as expected.
Are you using a ZTE Z832 as your device? I'm a bit confused about "AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/123.0.6312.40 Mobile Safari/537.36" in the ticket. Are you using a Firefox browser on Android?
Hi. I need some time to retest without activating any add-on, but I can confirm that I'm using a Redmi Note 10 Pro, with the latest Firefox for Android nightly... And 10 add-ons or so.
Let le get back to you. Thanks
Okay, I got the culprit I think : it is the "Enable homepage as a new tab" setting that has this effect here.
Can you please recheck? Thanks
Thank you for providing more information. I am able to (sort of) reproduce this with a very similar workflow on multiple devices.
Just to verify, how do you get to private browsing mode: do you use the bottom toolbar or do you click on the mask icon on the top right to go into private browsing?
