When trying to download anything it will not work with this revision.
If I just left click on the link I get noting. If I shift-center mouse
button I get a new window and the following message:
/var/tmp/c7ylb2vs.gz could not be saved, because the source file could not be
read. Try again laster, or contact teh server administrator.
If I use Netscape 4.79 it works fine. It worked fine with mozilla 1.1
This also happens with ANY pdf or file I would like to download
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Everytime I try to download it will not work. Sometimes it creates a
pdf file with a pid in the /var/tmp directory
2.
3.
Actual Results:
On pdf files when I shift center mouse click I get a new window and the
pdf orphan in the /var/tmp directory
Expected Results:
Shift click show popup the save to file popup.
click should down load the file and bring up acrobat
I can bring up other popup menus such as find etc. So I think its a down
load thing. I have tried both inside and outside my firewall. So its NOT
a firewall thing.

reporter:
Can you please delete the file "compreg.dat" and try it again ?
Can not find a file called "compreg.dat". I have two files in $HOME/.mozilla
pluginreg.dat and appreg. I deleted them both and they were recreated
next time I launched mozilla. I still get the same messages.
In a browser window I have link. Putting the cursor over the link
it has the following url:
http://sales.corp.sgi.com/tools/pricing/pdf/fam-corp-lcd.pdf
Left mouse click on a pdf link. Yields an error window:
Window title bar: Downloading /var/tmp/oxod29bd.pdf
Yellow triangle with an "!"
Text in window: /var/tmp/oxod29bd.pdf could not be saved, because the
source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server
administrator.
Button: ok
Looking in /var/tmp there is a file oxod29bd.pdf that is zero length
with 600 permissions and my userid and groupid.
After I click on the OK button, the file oxod29bd.pdf is removed.
Also have tried this a root. Same exact behavior.
Thanks Paul

the file is either in the mozilla binary directory or in the subfolder
Mozilla-binary/components
It's also possible that the filename is "component.reg".
(that changed at one point)
Found component.reg in /usr/freeware/mozilla removed it. Tried to get a pdf
file. Same exact behavior. Any other hints?
Thanks Paul
