Please add Thunderbird for Android as a product on SUMO. The product can remain hidden until launch date.

This will require:

  1. logo (Thunderbird desktop for now)
  2. description ("Email for Android")

Abby please let me know the pixel dimensions and the format for the logo (PNG perhaps?)

Flags: needinfo?(aparise)

256 x 256 for the Logo image. PNG is the ideal formatting since the background of the image will not be visible. I believe Kitsune also supports Jpeg.

The plan for TB Android on support.mozilla.org is to add a new product tile for TB Android next to the current TB product tile.

  1. see attached 256x256 PNG logo
  2. text snippet should be: ‘Email app for Android smartphones and tablets’

Assigning to :lsiebert to make this live at the appointed time. Lucas please coordinate with :wsmwk if there any issues

  1. Josh: please add the appropriate taxonomy topics as a comment to this bug. You can determine the appropriate topics by looking at the content of the article which will be linked to from the github issues: https://github.com/thunderbird/android-knowledgebase-issues/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3ATB8
    1. General rule of thumb is that Thunderbird for Android will use the same tags as Thunderbird desktop but without the add-on topics since Thunderbird for Android doesn't have add-ons
  2. Lucas please use the topics from Josh

NI'ing Josh for the taxonomy work.

Roland, appreciate you assigning the ticket to me. I’ll get everything ready to go live by 11 AM BRT on September 25. Concerning the KB articles for TB Android, do you want me to make them live when I set up the SUMO product tile? If so, please send me the final drafts so I can work on the markup and ensure everything is good to go for next week.

As a first pass, and without knowing the exact content of each article, the following are my suggested "taxonomy homes" for each of the articles listed in the linked Github issue above.

  • Getting started with Thunderbird for Android

    • Taxonomy Topic: Installation and updates (Tier 1)
  • Cross device import of email settings feature (QR code, etc)

    • Taxonomy Topic: Installation and updates (Tier 1)
  • Thunderbird for Android version of "Send usage data on Firefox mobile browsers"

    • Taxonomy Topic: Privacy and security (Tier 1)

Thanks. The Thunderbird team can make them live.

Also, if this is ready before September 25 it's fine to make it live, just let us known via this bug report.

Hi Wayne,

The Thunderbird for Android product tile is now live on the SUMO landing page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird-android. I’ve also added the Tier 1 and 2 topics Josh mentioned to the product taxonomy, so you’ll see those when creating the KB articles. Additionally, the Thunderbird for Android Community Forum has been enabled here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/thunderbird-android. I’ll go ahead and close this bug as fixed. If you need any adjustments or anything else comes up, feel free to reach out!
