User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 Twice quoted material (quoted text in a message one replies to) is miswrapped. The quoting characters are correctly placed ('>>'), but the line lengths alternate between long and short rather than being of a consistant length. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Post a message spanning multiple lines with a news reader that does not support flowed formatting (I used Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106 under Windows 2000 SP3) 2. Reply to that message leaving quoted material from original message using Mail & News 3. Reply to your own reply leaving quoted material from the original message and the previous reply Actual Results: The original message, as twice quoted, is miswrapped with short lines interspersed with long lines. Expected Results: Twice quoted text should be wrapped in such a way that line lengths are relatively uniform. The line lengths of twice quoted text appear to be properly wrapped when viewing the message in the preview pane of Mail & News. The wrapping problem shows up when composing, viewing message source (with CTRL-U), and/or when viewing the post in a news reader that doesn't support flowed formatting. This bug is illustrated in the group "alt.test" under the thread, "Re: Mozilla line wrapping problem verification (using OE this time)" posted on Februrary 3, 2003 at 6:02 pm EST. Messages themselves can be viewed under the following message-ids: <v3tt763h00rp47@corp.supernews.com> (original message posted with OE) <v3tt9n37116j86@corp.supernews.com> (reply to original message posted using Mail & News) <v3u5oo4131o70d@corp.supernews.com> (reply to the first reply posted using Mail & News) Also of note is that this bug cannot be reproduced if the original message was posted using a client that supports "format=flowed". I have only verified this using Mail & News in group "alt.test" under the thread, "Mozilla line wrapping problem verification" posted on February 3, 2003. Message-ids illustrating proper wrapping in this situation are listed below: <v3ts1o8v0877f0@corp.supernews.com> (original message posted with Mail & News) <v3ts32im0tvq10@corp.supernews.com> (reply to original message posted with Mail & News) <v3ts4h8i1lab2f@corp.supernews.com> (reply to first reply posted with Mail & News) One difference I noticed with the formatting between OE's version and Mail & News' version of the original message is that Mail & News appears to leave a space character at the end of the last word token in each line, while OE's version does not.
Arif Khokar, is this bug still an issue for you? I just attempted to reproduce the problem as you describe it, using Mozilla 1.5RC1, and I am not seeing the breaking-up of the source lines; I can provide the sample message if desired. If the problem no longer occurs for you, please mark this bug Resolved|WorksForMe.
No response from reporter; =>WorksForMe Arif Khokar, feel free to reopen this if the bug is still a problem for you with current builds of Mozilla.
