Well. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be running at all. But. The first time
I unstuffed m11 and ran the app runner it crashed. Now there's a really strange
invisable folder in the root dir of my hard drive. What's the dilly yo?
It runs fine now. Just that first time...
What's the name of the invisible folder you've found?

I recall this is an old profile manager bug. Current builds shouldn't have this
problem. The folder created may possibly have been related to the default user
profile's userid: mozProfile. Inclined to mark this invalid. In any case, it is
not an Install Wizard bug.

In mail from reporter, Luke Andrews-Hakken
The folder is called "Temporary Items"
I have a folder, "Temporary Files", with date of 10/29/99 containing 5 files
with various dates-not sure what they relate to, data inside some files is
gibberish, but one example of readable file is

Samir, do you know if this "Temporary Items" folder is still used in OS9 ? Maybe
Apple decided to change it to something else... We already had so many surprises
with OS9, I wouldn't be surprised :-)
Reassigning to you, as I now tend to think that it _is _ a MIW issue

Haven't tried this on OS 9. Grace, Could you please take a look at whether MIW
works on OS 9 and let us know if you find any anomalies? Else, I'm inclined to
think this is an M11 thing. The Mac Installer delivery was not smoothened out
till early M12.

I must point out also that the reporter has not mentioned the install wizard at
all, merely apprunner crashing which led me to believe this is not an Install
Wizard bug in the first place.

landrews,
Where did you get the binary that you ran? The URL should suffice.

The ad-related stuff the user found is generated/used by SmartDownload, so it
*is* a wizard related issue.

The SmartDownload agent dll used by the Mac installer doesn't generate anything
like the file contents described here. In fact, I'm sure they don't even use the
"Temporary Items" folder. Hence, this is probably a case where files are
leftover from using the SmartDownload agent delivered by Netcenter.
At any rate, we need to run the installer on OS 9.

Ran both the Mozilla and the Netscape installer on OS 9 and found that the
Temporary Items folder is cleaned out after installation and is invisible as is
meant to be. Finally bring closure to this bug: invalid.
