User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:130.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/130.0
Steps to reproduce:
I have just updated Thunderbird to 128.2.1esr
After that I sent a mail, which did not get saved.
Error message: "Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors." (see attached screenshot)
But the network works fine. And I did not change anything else in the system, which is working well since years.
Actual results:
Sent message did not get saved
Expected results:
Message should have get stored in "Sent" folder

Did "Retry" help?

No, "Retry" did not help. Only "Don't Save" helped to close the popup ... so I could do anything else in TB subsequently.
What Anti-Virus do you use?
Is the Anti-Virus scanning outgoing mail ?
Is the Anti-Virus allowed to scan an opened files in your profile folders ?
You need to rule out if the Anti-Virus is intervening and causing a write to file issue.
Suggest you start by disabling/switching off scanning of outgoing mail.
Then test sending.
Another option - restart computer in 'Safe Mode with Networking' - you may need to use an ethernet cable to connect computer to router/hub.
Then start and use Thunderbird as normal. Test sending.
Please report on what occurs when you perform the two options above.
Have you asked this question in the Thunderbird SupportForum ?
If yes please add the link and I'll take a look.

Hi Anje!
Thanks for all these advises. I will test them.
And no, I haven't posted this in the forum. Thing is ... this worked fine for years. Since the update it doesn't anymore. I haven't changed anything else ... just updated TB. So I thought this might be a bug and I let the community know ...
Will invesitgate the options suggested and let you know about results.
Best,
Christian

Hi TB community!
Without doing anything, this issue vanished. So it was just a temporary problem. But I don't have a clue what could have caused this. Anyways, this bug report can be closed.
Cheers,
Christian
