This is created from the comments in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1826507.
Current default for app links is "never". However, this causes some confusion in users who expected to redirect to their 3rd party app if it's available.
By updating the default to "Ask before opening" we allow the user to organically discover this feature.

Hi, royang, you closed this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1826507 and supposedly moved all the bugs that it covered and were merged with it to their own bug entries, however you did not make an entry for the main issue with that bug, which is that regardless of what you set in firefox, links ask to open in apps.
The never option doesn't work.
Please reopen that bug, or assign that aspect of it to it's own bug entry and look into it

Make sense. Currently Firefox Android still prompts the user if we cannot support the Scheme that the site is sending us. But you are right that this behaviour doesn't respect user's choice of "Never"
I've created https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1920078 to track work to make this behaviour more inline of what the user wants. Thanks!

hey :anpopa can you look into the regression in Bug 1934168 caused by this? otherwise we are considering backing it out as it is causing a perma failure on youtube tests

Hey :kshampur . Looking into Bug 1934168 logs i can't see how the changes for this work item(1919888) can cause the failure, since the changes do not affect the way the page is loaded.
