This began suddenly after I had used this build for two weeks or more.  I have
been using preferences several times a day to clear my caches and history for an
exercise.  Am also running Ad aware and software to block spyware, but problem
did not occur when I installed these utilities

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.pull downs Edit menu
2.click on Preferences to open in
3. suffer crash

Actual Results:  
crashes every time (page locks up and I must hit cntl-alt-delete to shut down
Mozilla)  URL does not matter

Expected Results:  
let me open Preferences menu

cannot determine module (locked up)

Can you try this:

Quit mozilla (and quicklaunch, if running)
Delete or rename the file XUL.mfl in your profile dir
Restart

Any change? If things now work: Please resolved as duplicate of bug 169777
(see bug 184538, bug 184674)

actually.. resolving as dup. It's the only known hang/freeze in 1.2.1 when
clicking prefs. Reporter: Current trunk builds likely have a fix.
