Details

Steps to reproduce:

I started Thunderbird, had it run for a few hours, and then hit the Ctrl-Shift-K shortcut to get the focus to the quick filter bar, to quickly find a message.

Actual results:

The shortcut sometimes does nothing, the focus stays wherever it was.

That's pretty bad because I will often immediately start typing the filter query after hitting the shortcut (the entire point of a keyboard-based UI is to allow efficient interactions like that), so if my query contains an "K" it will hide the entire thread in a way that is super hard to undo, it if contains a "J" it will mark some message as junk -- in general it's just going to cause a bunch of random havoc that can take a while to clean up, and is quite frustrating.

Expected results:

Hitting the shortcut should bring the focus into the quick filter bar.

This is not reproducible: when I restart Thunderbird, the shortcut works fine. But after some time it breaks. And then sometimes it unbreaks again. I have not yet found any pattern. It doesn't seem to matter where the focus is -- I tried focusing the folder list, the message list, or the message view; the shortcut doesn't work in any of them. Even manually focusing and then un-focusing the quick filter bar does not help.

Happens for me also. bug 1847432
