Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:131.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/131.0

Steps to reproduce:

I set up a Fastmail account on Thunderbird on macOS, and tried to send a first email a few days after having set everything up. I used an "App Password" (a password Fastmail generates to connect a third party app such as Thunderbird).

Actual results:

Thunderbird could sync all my emails and folders and worked properly on the IMAP side of things.

When I tried to send my first email, Thunderbird told me that my password was incorrect. Copying and pasting the same App password from Fastmail fixed it and allowed me to send an email.

Expected results:

Thunderbird should have registered the right password, not told me that my password was wrong, and should have been able to send emails.

Is it reproducible?

I just tried and could reproduce again.

I tried to reproduce on 132.0b3 on the same machine and couldn't. Whatever caused this issue seems to have been fixed between 128 and 132

Thanks, => WFM then.
