Attached video youtube-save.mp4

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:133.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/133.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log in to YouTube account.
  2. Open any video on youtube.com.
  3. Click the "Save" button to save video to a playlist.

I attached a screen recording recorded in troubleshooting mode (no extensions).

Actual results:

"Save" button is unresponsive. Other buttons work fine.

I'm on the latest Nightly and I believe this has been happening for the past few days.

Expected results:

"Save" dialog should open.

It works for me on the latest Nightly. Did you try on a new profile?
Did you try in safe mode? Edit: I see you already tried that.

If this is a Noghtly bug, can you try using mozregression to find the bug that caused this?

Yes, I can reproduce this on a new profile and in safe mode.

This also works for me in the latest Nightly.

Maybe this could somehow be affected by the language you are using on YouTube? For me, it is in English.

Are there any errors in the console when you do the save?

A mozregression window here might help.

[Tracking Requested - why for this release]: YouTube regression, though it isn't clear under which circumstances it reproduces, as two of us can't trigger it.

I can't reproduce it either.
mozregression would help narrow this down to get it in front of the right people. If you would be willing to try mozregression?

I think I'm part of an A/B test or this has something to do with my account.

I tried switching to another Google acccount (Google Workspace account, no YouTube Premium subscription) and it worked fine. The problematic account is a regular Gmail account with YouTube Premium subscription.

In the meantime I tried going back one month with mozregression, tried en-US builds, setting YouTube language to English. None of them worked.

I don't see any errors in the console and I can't reproduce this in Chrome.

Clearing tracking and regression keyword since it's likely a webcompat issue.

Anything in the developer tools console?

Flags: needinfo?(padenot) → needinfo?(selim)

Here's a side-by-side comparison but I don't see any particular difference. Left side is problematic and right side works properly.

Nothing is logged at the moment of clicking save button.

Thanks, we'll ping Youtube about this.

User Story: (updated)

Selim, YouTube said they've found something that could have caused this, and are bringing this A/B test down. Thanks a lot for flagging this up to us, and thanks to the YouTube folks for acting this quickly!

Please close at your convenience when you feel this is fixed for you (or let me know and I can do it).

Unfortunately QA could not reproduce this bug as well using both normal or premium youtube account on latest Nightly 133 on Windows 11.
