I don't know what the steps to reproduce are. But I'll keep the window open for at least today (next ~6 hours). So if you want to try get to the root of the issue I'm open to do some debugging and give some debug info.

I attached a video of how it looks like. When I open a new private window the bug isn't present anymore. Assuming that restarting the browser would also "fix" the issue.

The visible cursor is blinks always on the same position, but the internal cursor position just works as usual.

The splitter of the sidebar and the browser is also painted over the popup for URL bar. Looks like the display list is broken or something. I'm not sure the right component to investigate this kind of issues, though. I redirect this to Graphics.

Hmm, that's quite odd, never seen anything like that before.

Hard to say more without being able to reproduce.

Is there something interesting or different or unusual about your setup/profile? If this was widespread I would have expected to see a lot more bugs filed about it. Does it happen in a fresh profile for example?

Oh, the splitter over side bar was a separate bug fixed in Bug 1922993. (sorry somehow missed that the discussion went in that direction).

The caret staying at the initial position was a one time thing. I haven't reproduced yet and I don't see it when launching new or existing Firefox profiles. The side bar thing was reproducible and as comment #7 outlined fixed relatively quickly (so didn't become widespread).

I've had this happen yesterday again (second time in total). So occurence seems to be very rarely. This time I've pressed F7 and afterwards the caret position was behaving normal again. (I usually have the F7 mode enabled, so it was just reenabling it). I'd say this it at most S4.

Bug 2019914 is a similar case that was also reported against Linux.
