[Prerequisites]:

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Select any option from the Microsurvey and click the Submit button.
  2. Observe the Thank You message.

[Expected result]:

  • The Thank You message is automatically dismissed after 5 seconds.

[Actual result]:

  • The Thank You message is immediately redisplayed after timeout and is dismissed after another 5 seconds.

[Notes]:

  • This issues causes the "PAGE_EVENT: timeout" and "PAGE_EVENT: BLOCK_MESSAGE" telemetry events to be sent twice.
  • The issue is not reproducible if the message is dismissed before the first timeout by clicking the X button.
  • The issue is not reproducible on Windows 10/11 and macOS.

It seems that this issue is also reproducible with the callouts from the Treatment A and B branches of the "Contextual Chatbot Suggestion" experiment with the following steps:

[Prerequisites]:

  • Have the latest Firefox Release 135 installed.
  • Have a profile with the 'nimbus.debug' pref set to 'true' in the "about:config" page.

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Open the browser using the profile from the prerequisites.
  2. Navigate to the "about:studies?optin_slug=contextual-chatbot-suggestion&optin_branch=treatment-a&optin_collection=nimbus-preview" URL.
  3. Navigate to the "https://chatgpt.com/" website.
  4. Click the "Next" button from the first callout.
  5. Click the "Choose a chatbot" button and observe the behavior.

[Actual Result]:

  • The Chatbot Suggestion callout is initially dismissed and quickly redisplayed.
