Late last week, I migrated from Netscape Mail (Communicator 4.79) to Mozilla
Mail. There was loss of performance and functionality in a number of areas
although the amount of free space on the drive where the Mozilla Mail account I
use is far greater than when I used Netscape Mail:

1) Reading of large text messages (>500KB) is excruciatingly slow, and cannot be
interrupted to simply file the message like it is possible with Netscape Mail

2) Clicking on the last message on the list in the upper half of the mail window
front-end does not automatically scroll the list down on message showing the
next unread message as it is possible with Netscape Mail

3) Attachments (particularly HTML attachments) are shown in the lower half of
the mail window front-end. I have not been able to find a way to turn this
"feature" off. When a message with an HTML file as an attachment arrived,
Netscape Mail would simly show a link to the attachment which if clicked on
would open the attachment in a new browser window. The  inability to do this
with Mozilla Mail has been particularly frustrating

4) With Netscape Mail I could use the search messages feature to look for
messages that I wanted to delete permanently more quickly and efficiently. Once
all the messages I wnted to delete were retrieved I could select them all, click
simultaneously on shift and delete, and delete the selected messages
permanently. This does not appear to work in Mozilla Mail. The delete key (which
sends the selected messages to trash) does work bu is excruciatinlgy slow when
the number of messages to be deleted exceeds a few tens.

5) The general performance of the Mozilla mail window fornt-end is noticeably
slower than that of Netscape Mail

Please only 1 issue per bug-report (this isn't a chat-forum).

- slow attachments are solved in Mozilla 1.3a (see bug 180516)
- you can block the display of attachments in the View menu (Display Atatchments
Online)

but this feature is AFAIK not in 1.2.1 but that's excatly the reason why bug
reports from build older than 2 weeks are invalid
4) slow delete is known and possible already fixed in later builds
5) general performance bugs = invalid


marking invalid (sorry !)

Please try the latest build or the latest milestone (1.3a or wait a few days for
1.3b), search before you file a bug and please repot only one issue/bug report
