The translation for certain features in Firefox is inaccurate or unclear in my native language (e.g., Spanish). This makes it difficult to use and understand the browser.

Steps to reproduce:

Opened Firefox in Spanish.
Navigated through the settings, bookmarks, and history menus.

Actual results:

Several translations in the user interface were inaccurate or unclear. Here are some examples:

In the Settings menu, "Privacy & Security" is translated as "Privacidad y Protección," but "Protección" is misleading because it doesn’t convey security clearly—it implies physical protection.

On the Bookmarks toolbar, the translation for "Bookmark This Page" appears as "Marcar esta página," which is incorrect. The word "Marcar" suggests marking something instead of saving it as a bookmark.

In the History menu, "Clear Recent History" is translated as "Borrar Historia Reciente," which directly translates to "Delete Recent History," but the phrasing sounds like you are deleting something permanently rather than just clearing browsing data.

Expected results:

The translations should be more accurate and reflect the meaning clearly:

"Privacy & Security" should be translated as "Privacidad y Seguridad" to make the security aspect clearer.

"Bookmark This Page" should be translated as "Añadir esta página a marcadores" or "Guardar esta página en marcadores" to reflect the action of saving the page.

"Clear Recent History" should be translated as "Limpiar Historial Reciente" to indicate that it’s about cleaning up or clearing data, not deleting permanently.

These improvements would make the interface easier to understand for native speakers.

Thanks for taking the time to file a bug.

The first issue is that there are 4 different Spanish variants (es-AR, es-ES, es-CL, es-MX). The only one using Marcar esta página is es-AR, so assuming that's what you're using.

The most important aspect to keep in mind is that translation is managed by volunteers. You can get in touch with the existing team doing translation and discuss these changes, or propose alternative translations in Pontoon.

You can find information on how to start here https://mozilla-l10n.github.io/introduction/
