Steps to reproduce:
I have used my Thunderbird profile with multiple Calendar subscriptions normally for many years on different computers and OSes. One I started TB as usual, when the behaviour below started to appear.
It first appeared shortly after an update to TB 115.5.0 (Mint 20.3) and has sustained till then. I am not able to tell, whether it came with the update (don't have a version <115.5.0 to test with) or with an edit in the calendar that coincided.
Actual results:
Thunderbird went into high CPU utilization and stopped responding to any inputs, shortly (~15 seconds) after start, reproducibly after every start. Even letting it run for many hours didn't change anything.
I created and for many months used another profile for mails, which didn't have the calendar subscriptions.
When I finally had time to try to debug, I found out, that the problem wasn't at all because of complex Mail accounts, but just due to this one specific Calendar.
I was able to reproduce by creating a virgin profile and just subscribing to the calendar, which showed exactly the same behaviour.
The same calendar (my own Nextcloud instance) works fine on e.g. Android via DAVx5.
I suspect some specific entry in the calendar is producing the problems but I am not able to tell which.
If you guide me how to debug, I'll happily try to provide more details!
Expected results:
Thunderbird should have continued to work smoothly as always.

Is "offline" disabled?
If yes, then this could be helped by Bug 1933099 - Importing many items from a CalDAV server with "Offline Support" disabled can cause significant jank
