Mozilla seems to get confused about the contents of the address book after
switching profiles. If I start Mozilla in profile A, then switch on the fly to
profile B, then bring up the address book tool, the directories in the address
book reflect what should be seen under profile A.
This does not occur if I cold-start Mozilla into profile B.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Mozilla in profile A.
2. Do Tools -> Switch Profile and select profile B
3. Bring up the address book tool (I used the address book icon at the
bottom-left of the modern-themed browser to do this.)
4. Observe the contents of the address book window.
Actual Results:
In my case, the contents of the "Personal Address Book" directory contained
addresses that are from profile A, not profile B. (Note that I have a directory
named "Personal Address Book" under both profiles.)
Expected Results:
It should have shown the address book contents from profile B only.

WFM using 20030211 Mac OS X Mach-O.
> In my case, the contents of the "Personal Address Book" directory
I don't have a "Personal Address Book" directory in either of my profiles. Seth,
is this indicative of a migrated profile? Could its presence affect the profile
switching code?
Also, in the reporter's Steps to Reporoduce, between steps 1 and 2, the address
book as not even shown. AFAICT, the address book data for profile A would not
have ever been loaded, right?

I am able to reproduce this- started with 2 new profiles-
profile 1- added my internal mail account and two new addresses
switched to profile 2 (created at this point)
added my webmail account and opened address book- two addresses from profile 1
were present
Conrad, I saw both personal address book and collected addresses in both new
accounts. Migration was not part of this testing (I had cleaned the system for
testing and migration not possible with machO build as you know)

Grace - I'll try what you did.
> migration not possible with machO build as you know
It is if the profile was migrated with a CFM and now you're using that profile
with Mach-O.

yes- agree (how I test)
but I wanted migration out of the equation- to see if both personal and
collected addresses were present

Have also seen similar behaviour wrt. junk mail training.
Switching between profiles, one of which never gets junk mail
and hence has no training, has caused the other (junk-ridden)
profile to forget all its junk training.
(What other profile-specific files may get carried over
incorrectly in a profile switch?)

BTW: seen this bug, and the junk mail behaviour of the last attachment,
on Windows Moz 1.3 .

Well, since it has not been marked fixed, that's not news ;-)

Sorry, I don't know the bugzilla protocol here... Bug 205814 (which was closed
as a dup of this one) was filed against PC / Windows XP, but this bug was filed
against Mac / MacOS X. Should the Hardware / OS of this bug be changed to All /
All? Does it matter?
(One might think that Windows XP bugs might end up with the more attention than
OS X bugs...)

Yes, it does matter- so I changed OS to all- thanks

This bug also causes problems in the junk mail filtering. Junk mail filter
seems to sweep off all mail to the junk folder after switching profiles.

Not the same bug. Each component that uses profile data is responsible for
switching its data in response to profile change notifications. There is a bug
for junk mail filtering not responding to profile changes, but that's a
different bug than one having to do with address book.

This is still there in 1.5. And there are many more files that are not switched.
See bug 205821 and it's dependencies. Someone should update the target
milestone.

Sometimes the address books switch with the profile, but it fails to switch the
addresses so I find addresses from one profile appearing in another

No I can't.
After using "Tools => Switch Profile..." to go from my "default" profile (with address books "Personal Address Book", "Bugzilla" and "Collected Addresses", the first two of which include many addresses) to a profile named "clean" which I sometimes use when testing bugs, then clicking "Window => Address Book" I see the default "Personal Address Book" and "Collected Addresses" only, and they are both empty. After coming back (again using Tools => Switch Profile...), then clicking the address book icon at bottom left, I again see the 3 address books and many addresses which belong in the "default" profile to which I have gone back.
