User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:131.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/131.0

Steps to reproduce:

1. Set general.smoothScroll to false

Actual results:

After some days, it went back to be true again.

Expected results:

It should stay as what I set (false).

This should have been fixed in 131. Can you check if it reproduces with 132?

Thanks for uploading the about:support result. I hoped there's something related to finger printing such as bug 1928570, but there was no such things in the result.

We don't have any other theory how general.smoothScroll pref is clobbered unfortunately.

I am afraid we have no theory how this bug could happen, rather we have another scenario clobbering general.smoothScroll in bug 1912371, we will probably fix the bug first.

I tried to see if that was related -- but does Windows 10 even have a "system setting" for smooth scroll? I surely ain't aware of it.

It is not directly tied to scroll, the setting is in the accessibility setting, the name would be animation blah, I am on a Japanese version of Windows, so I can tell the exact name of it.

Thanks, I find at at "Ease of Access" -> "Show Animations in Windows".

And I also have a theory why this constantly happens to me.

I use remote desktop to connect to my home computer frequently.
It looks like, when I RDP to my computer, it will automatically disable this option.

And when I exit RDP, or when login the same computer in person, it will automatically re-enable this option.

This "re-enabling" will cause firefox to reset my smooth scroll setting back to default (true), likely due to bug 1912371.

fireattack, I am not sure whether you are on a release versions of Firefox or nightlies (or maybe on beta), we've fixed one of relevant bugs (bug 1912371) in this nightly. So if you have a chance to try it to see whether your issue is fixed or not, it would be appreciated. Thanks!
