1930121 - Smart mailboxes (virtual folder) show POP accounts which are undeletable

Steps to reproduce:

Just normal use of Thunderbird

Actual results:

The smart mailboxes "Inbox" and "Trash" show all my POP accounts in addition to the two correct Google IMAP accounts and the Local account (all messages are deviated there from the POP accounts).
In the properties, there are 18 accounts selected, but only the supported 3 are shown in the selection mask. Impossible to deselect the POP accounts.
Deleting virtualFolders.dat and the folder smart mailboxes after closing TB don't help, editing folderCache.json neither: Thunderbird always restores the wrong configuration upon start.

Expected results:

TB should automatically withdraw the no more supported POP-"folders" from the smart mailboxes, or at least the user should be able to deselect the POP accounts from the smart mailboxes.

Are you seeing this in version 140?

Many thanks. I could resolve the problem by copying the whole profile from another PC, on which the bug had been resolved earlier by editing manually the corresponding files (on v. 132 this didn't work as TB automatically "corrected" me back from some hidden backup).
But I had similar troubles again a few weeks ago after having deleted and recreated one e-mail account, hence I tried to install the repair tool, but this is unfortunately no more compatible with v. 143.
It seems me essential that TB automatically would detect and delete POP accounts from smart mailboxes (where they anyway don't work).

If a folder is in the virtual folders list that shouldn't be there then perhaps something wrong in prefs.js for accounts.

But from comment 0 I'm still struggling to understand.

You have 18 accounts? And there are 18 folders in virtual folder list?
Or you have fewer than 18 accounts, but 18 are in the list?

Any deferred inboxes at play here? See bug 1857352. (And for more "deferred" issues: Bug 1916107 and Bug 1916455).

No, no deferred E-mails at all.

To avoid this error to appear, TB should delete automatically any POP-accounts from the displayed list. Note that these erroneous entries anyway did not show any mails when selected: all mails in these POP accounts were ony seen when selecting Inbox or Local.

On this PC, the problem has been resolved by copying everything from another PC, where I had resolved the same problem earlier by editing the erroneous *.msf files manually. Later this didn't work anymore because TB restored the wrong versions automatically.
