User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210

Probably by a design feature that should be disableable, Mozilla saves EVERY
modified bookmark file in C\Doc'n'Set\Ap'Data'Mozilla\Profiles\(name)
1) as one who *despises* the location of program-specific components in
non-program folders, despite the loss of security, I feel every part of Mozilla
should be in the Mozilla folder. 2)Savings of old files are both a blessing and
a curse. Suggest check-to-save-old-file be added 3) Due to this and bug 64768, I
suggest bookmark file editing be *temporerally* given over to either a working
version of NetScape, if possible, OR a MS-Word template file be created for
doing the editing job

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
When modifying a bookmark file, Moz not only doesn't do it (64768) but creates
endless numbers of backup files in a place where they don't belong. MS has given
us Documents and Settings, Drive C Program Files and Shared Files, etc. We don't
have to go along.

Expected Results:
Bookmark file should be in Moz. folder *except* in cases where more than one
profile exists. Option should exist to save backup, save last n backups, not
save backups in a folder under browser folder. Question - would a
who-can-examine coding on individual user folders be sufficient to block folks
from using others' bookmarks without moving them to MicroSoft D&S file?
Passwords and local encoding, perhaps?
The extra bookmark files appearing is bug 189651.

Placing the bookmarks file (and all profile files) in the D&S folder was bug
6464, and fixed on purpose.

The ability to change profile location is bug 77924.

Is there anything in this bug report that those three bugs do not cover?
Please reopen if you disagree.
