Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:132.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/132.0
Steps to reproduce:
Receive a mail with the subject: "Testmail abcdefghijlkmnopqrstuvw wvutsrqpon".
Use global search to search for "abcdefghijlk*"
As stated by https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/global-search without mentioning any limitation in word length.
"You can use the wildcard character “” at the end of your search item. “thunder” will then not only find messages with “Thunderbird” but also those about “thunderbolts”. "
Actual results:
No search result.
Expected results:
Mail with the subject "Testmail abcdefghijlkmnopqrstuvw wvutsrqpon" should have been found.
What works:
- Searching for the whole term "abcdefghijlkmnopqrstuvw" (Mail is apparently indexed)
- Searching for the shorter term "wvutsrqpon" with a wildcard "wvuts*"
Additional or alternative suggestion: It could be helpful for users to know about this limitation and for it to be documented on the above page.
