Steps to reproduce:
I developed custom theme with auto switching to dark mode, as a reference i use "System theme — auto".
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/solarized-light-dark/
This works well until browser restart, after restart theme stop switching.
Actual results:
after restart FF apply theme in "theme" field of plugin manifest. and stop switching to dark mode based time and theme that set up by system.
Expected results:
Theme should change their lightness based on system mode.

Update: i find out that same happens with official system theme.

Hello,
I could not reproduce the issue on the latest Nightly (135.0a1/20241127212333), Beta (134.0b2/20241127093757) or Release (133.0/20241121140525) on neither macOS 11.3.1 nor Windows 10.
With the linked theme installed, switching the system theme from the OS will correctly switch the theme in Firefox as well, including after a browser restart.

Could you share about:support?
If you are able to reproduce this consistently, can you write out the exact steps that you are taking to trigger this problem, potentially on a new profile? You can create a new profile for testing at about:profiles .
