`Open` an attachment does not open the application for the attachment

Actual results:
When i get an email with attachment, the attachment will not open. It goes to save and I have to save it on my computer and then go the saved location and open the file.
Expected results:
The attached file should open without having to save it.

Which version are you using?
Is this all mails, or just some? What kind of attachments?
Check the error console (Ctrl+Shift+J) as well. Anything relevant there?
