Steps to reproduce:

Install any PWA on Android using Firefox, eg https://www.wordreference.com/
Open the PWA, change the Android system theme from light to dark mode or vice versa

Actual results:

Android Custom Tabs bar shows, as if the app was being loaded within an in-app browser rather than as a PWA. The issue persists until the PWA or Firefox is restarted, and happens in all PWAs I've tested in Firefox.

Expected results:

Android Custom Tabs bar should not show. This is the behaviour with PWAs in other browsers, such as Chrome or Edge.

This also happens when the system theme is changed automatically, ie on a schedule such as a dusk to sunrise.
