don't know what causes the problem i experience
Actual results:
September 30 i rebuilt global-messages-db.sqlite
now these days (25-28 november) when i search messages (CMD-SHIFT-F) the search remains running and running producing few or no results.
then i deleted and rebuilt global-messages-db.sqlite
Expected results:
the search now is (as it should be) blazingly fast and complete

Please look for errors and warnings in error console (ctrl+shift+J)
hmmm... is it useful that i rise the detail level of my error console?
now it only registers trivial activities (about messages: impoirted, saved, printed, etc.)
so that the first time a global search remains stuck without results i go to see the error console
same now (31 december 2024) again: global search stays forever with "searching"
i am unable to find the reason why after some days the search stops working.
for those who know more: sometimes the global search finds immediately some few matches; and then stays forever without giving any match more.
in the meanwhile i will rebuild the index.

CMD-SHIFT-F is not "global search" and does not use the global message index.
uhhh, ok, thank you for your message
so the question becomes: how is it that the search with CMD-SHIFT-F at a given momement stops working? (that is stays forever with "searching" and finds (nearly) nothing)
but please note that if i rebuild global-messages-db.sqlite, the "search with CMD-SHIFT-F" works like a charm.

when it doesn't work, before you rebuild global-messages-db.sqlite,, check tools > Error Console for errors.

wow!
after the remark about gloda 'is not' CMD-SHIFT-F
i did some searches with CMD-K, blazingly fast - what means that gloda is working.
after that i went back to CMD-SHIFT-F and voilà everything was working at high speed !
the post hoc ergo propter hoc way of thinking makes me feel that doing some CMD-K searches reactivated something which was stuck.

(In reply to mauriz from comment #10)
the post hoc ergo propter hoc way of thinking makes me feel that doing some CMD-K searches reactivated something which was stuck.
So there is currently no problem?
