1934304 - Open links in apps with "ask before opening" selected, asks to open in another browser every URL that I open on a new tab

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open firefox beta for android
2. Have "Open links in apps" option set on "ask before opening" or "always"
3. Open any URL
4. If always, it will open the URL again in the default browser. If "ask before" it will ask if I want to open the same URL on another app, that will be the default browser.

It doesn't matter which URL, it happens with 100% or URLs I tried.

Xiaomi 14, Android 15. HyperOS 1.1.4.0. Firefox 134.0b2 (but it happened on previous version too).

Actual results:

I can open the same URL again with the default browser if default browser is set. If not set, The list of browsers is shown to select firefox again and , but it doesn't make sense.

Expected results:

If there's no app for that URL, it shouldn't ask.

Hi Raul, if you select "Open", do you see it directly open in another browser? or do you see an application picker? If you see an application picker, what apps do you have as choices? Thanks

I don't have the default browser set in android settings, so when I select "Open", a picker with the list of browsers appear: "Firefox beta, Firefox Focus, Edge"

Thanks, I'll look into how we can avoid this. The browser detection seems to work on some devices but not others.
