I've started experiencing a bizarre problem that I would really like to figure out how to address. Firefox simply produces no audio. The Windows volume mixer shows other applications making noise, but not Firefox. I initially noticed because the Discord webapp wasn't making notification noises. I tried going to YouTube and it wouldn't produce any sound either. In fact, I don't even see the little icon/button in the tab that I would normally see to show me that audio is coming from that tab and allow me to mute it.

I've tried updating and using a fresh profile, which did not address the problem. This is a Windows 10 machine on the Firefox Release channel.

Would you mind following this instruction and capture a media profile for us? Thanks!

Oh, I guess I fixed it and now I can't figure out how to reproduce the problem anymore. I remembered that I had previously gone into the Windows audio settings and changed Firefox to use the a different audio device (my gaming headset has two - one for voice audio and one for game audio). I thought maybe that could be related and reopened that settings page (tray -> volume button -> right click -> Open Sound Settings -> Advanced sound options -> App volume and device preferences). Firefox was listed as using the "default" device for both input and output. I switched it back to the audio devices I want it to use. And now it works perfectly. Switching it back to "default" does not cause the problem to reoccur. I guess I'll reopen if the problem comes back.
